Montgomery, Alabama is about a 5 hour drive from Greenville, SC, but when you are going to photograph a couple like Emily and Cole, it’s worth every mile as a wedding photographer.
Emily and Cole were all about traditions and made sure they participated in as many as they could. So for all of our fans of southern wedding traditions, here are a few for you.
Break a plate for good luck. Emily shattered the heck out of hers!
Bury a bottle of bourbon to prevent rain on your wedding day. Now this one comes with a few stipulations. You have to do it exactly one month prior to your wedding, the bottle has to be full (no sampling) and it has to be buried upside down. Just a side note, it was absolutely beautiful the day of Emily and Cole’s wedding even though it rained all the way up until the day before. Just sayin’.
And the last is thanks to Truvy from the movie every southern girl and her momma loves, Steel Magnolias. Emily and Cole sent their guests home with a sliver of the wedding and groom’s cake in a box with note for them to place it under their pillow in order to have sweet dreams of the person they will marry (or are married to). Thanks, Truvy!
Now all of these traditions may or may not have had a hand in Emily and Cole’s beautiful wedding, but we know they don’t need to rely on any superstitions in order to have a happy marriage. These guys are absolutely wonderful together! From the tears when they saw each other, to the big grins they are able to get from each other, there is no denying the love these two share.
This happy couple met while in college at Ole Miss and have been together ever since. And today they share their love with their sweet pooches Pace and Gunner, who also sent their love home with guests in the form of a bone and custom tennis ball so that everyone could share the happiness with their own pets at home.
Little touches like the cake and doggie gifts were seen all around at their wedding reception. Emily and Cole also had a gorgeous custom monogram designed and printed and was used on many different things throughout the wedding day. The entire reception was absolutely beautiful from the tent and lighting to the food stations which were amazingly designed and displayed. You could see that a lot of time and consideration was taken in order to have a beautiful day for the couple and their friends and families to enjoy. And they enjoyed every moment of their day! From the moment the first makeup brush touched her face to their exit in the vintage Rolls Royce, Emily and Cole laughed, cried, loved and shared a joy that we hope grows as they follow their new path in life as husband and wife.
Emily and Cole, it was a honor to be a part of your wedding and we wish you nothing but the best!
