I loved, loved, LOVED everything about Emily and Clay’s wedding day! Not only were they two of the nicest and most genuine people to know, but I also loved the way they focused their wedding day around their faith, family and friends.
First of all, the ceremony and reception were held under a beautiful grove of trees on part of Clay’s family farm. The ceremony itself was held under a large branch from which a wagon wheel decorated with beautiful flowers hung. Instead of chairs or pews, hay bales were covered in cloth and arranged in a unique way. Instead of a center aisle with a “His” and “Hers” side, the bales were arranged in a large spiral that Emily and Clay walked to the center point to exchange their vows beneath the hanging wagon wheel. Emily wore a beautiful lace trimmed gown and veil while Clay wore dark denim pants, a tan coat and his obligatory cowboy hat. Both of them wore boots, which was adorable! Emily arrived with her father on a horse drawn carriage before he escorted her to Clay who wore a huge grin waiting for Emily.
After a tearful exchange of vows it was time for the new Mr. and Mrs. to enjoy good food and even better company. Guests were seated beneath the grove of tress around 14 large picnic tables that the groom himself built. Beautiful and simple flower arrangements adorned the tables. The flowers included a few pheasant feathers, which was a subtle nod towards Clay’s love of pheasant hunting. Guests enjoyed some great barbecue and an ice cream bar complete with a variety of toppings and cones ☺ There was, of course, a tasty wedding cake as well…which this sweet bride cut with her new husband before stopping her visit with guests just to bring me a piece of cake.
!!! ←My reaction.
After my receiving my heartfelt thanks, I pushed this sweet woman back out to the dance floor to enjoy the rest of her reception.
Emily and Clay enjoyed a beautiful sunset and a night of dancing under the stars before their guests joined them in releasing sky lanterns. Releasing them, they sent their best wishes for the couple towards the heavens.
And now I want to send my best wishes to this couple as well. Emily and Clay, I hope all the love and happiness you share with others comes back to you ten fold!
