Aly and Barry’s wedding day was a wonderfully emotional day full of laughter, tears and personal touches.
Being with your loved ones is one of the best parts of your wedding day, but when some of the most important people in your life are no longer with you, your wedding day takes on a special meaning. The parents of our incredibly loving groom, Barry, had passed by the time his wedding day arrived. Aly, our extremely thoughtful bride, made Barry a handkerchief out of scraps from his mother’s sewing box. Of course that sweet gesture brought a round of tears from everybody…us included.
Handkerchiefs were the gift of the day it seems. About 10 years ago Aly’s mother visited a little island off the coast of Venice, Italy called Burano, which is famous for it’s fine handmade lace. While she was there, her mother picked up a handkerchief, brought it home, sealed it in a paper bag and put a yellow sticky note on it that said, “To be opened on your wedding day”. The note was for the family just in case she wasn’t around to see her daughter married, but fortunately, she was able to give it to Aly herself, sticky note and all. It was absolutely beautiful and Aly was so excited to finally know what was in the bag!
Personal touches abounded at their wedding from the cross used during the ceremony made by Aly’s cousin, to the live band that played at cocktail hour. Aly and Barry brought in the band they saw on their first date and had them play the music during cocktails and for their first dance as husband and wife. What an amazing touch!
The entire day was so full of happy memories and the making of new ones to be shared over and over again. We hope that Aly and Barry enjoy a lifetime of happiness together.
Congrats you guys!
