Hi guys this is Ashley and I’m excited to finally be able to share my sister’s wedding day with all of you!
Stacey met Ross the same way our parents met, on a blind date. They went out together and since they were both a little nervous that things might not go well, they each brought along someone. Ross brought along 1 of his 7 sisters (yes 7! Plus 1 brother equals 9 kids including Ross) and Stacey brought along a good friend. But there was nothing for them to be nervous about, they hit things off great and within a few weeks there was already love blooming. * sigh * Of course, being her big sister I was happy for her but I had to give her a hard time. You see, the poor woman was falling in love with a Gamecock fan and she comes from a “my blood runs orange” Clemson T-I-G-E-R-S family. Lots of teasing ensued.
But either way they both new early on that they had found someone they wanted to be with. Eight months later Ross popped the question and Stacey, shocked and in tears, said maybe.
Nah! Of course she said yes! No hesitation required! They were so ecstatic and both families couldn’t have been happier for them.
Stacey and Ross were married at the Millstone at Adam’s Pond in Columbia, SC and of course I asked Craig and Lindsey to capture this special day. And I have to say, it was very odd being on the opposite end of the camera on a wedding day. But I would have nothing less than the best for my sister on the most important day of her life (to date at least) and I’m incredibly thankful to Craig and Lindsey for working their magic and creating beautiful images for Stacey and Ross.
And beautiful they were, made even more so by my gorgeous sister who got all the “photogenic” genes in the family. It was a very emotional day for everyone and I lost count at the number of tears shed. One of the firsts was our father seeing her for the first time. He had not seen the dress, least of all, Stacey in it. So he came in and had the biggest grin on his face, which he normally does, but this was one of his “just for my girls” smiles; the smile where we can see and feel his love just from being near him. We are both Daddy’s girls, born and bred and will be until the end of our days. So of course Stacey lost it as did our mother and I and everyone else in the room. And then there was the moment before we began to head down stairs for the ceremony. Stacey was ready, veil in, gown and makeup on and I stood in front of her holding her hands and I had this great speech planned out of how beautiful she was and how much I loved her and that she was going to live a wonderful life yadda yadda yadda… and I froze. All I could see was my baby sister, moments of our childhood flashing by, the moments of sisterhood and bonding and of course the fights. The summers in the front yard, the camping trips, dance recitals, talks about boys, broken hearts and the mending after. All I could manage to say through the sudden waterworks was “you’re beautiful and I love you”. I hope that was enough.
She and Ross were married in a beautiful Catholic ceremony on a perfect fall day and we were all happy to welcome him to the family. Ross is a great guy of character and strength, goals and dreams and I know he’ll take care of my sister. Or at least he better ☺
I love you both. Enjoy a lifetime of happiness.
~ Ashley
