De*tail – noun – the small elements that collectively constitute a work of art
“A work of art”; a pretty fitting description for a wedding day wouldn’t you say? It really is a work of art when you think of all the fine points and effort put into bringing a wedding together.
Everything from the color scheme, theme of the day (rustic, classic, beach?), to gifts for the guests comes into play. Aisle and table décor, floral arrangements and personal touches are just a few of the little things that help to pull it all together, and no matter if you’re a DIY bride or if you hire a designer to plan your event, even the smallest touches can make a big impact!
We are sharing some of our favorite details with you below. We loved when one couple whose dogs were very special to them made sure to include a “doggy bag” for their guests’ pets as well, complete with a new ball and treats! Another couple getting married in the field beside the bride’s home used old church pews as their seats while also including personalized sunglasses for their guests to use during the ceremony. Those were just because their love was so blinding. Ha! See what I did there? Anyway…we love when couples do simple things that showcase their personalities, like milk and cookies for the guests near the end of the night or making homemade jellies for guests to enjoy after the wedding.
Of course there are advantages to hiring professionals to design and decorate for your wedding. There is less stress leading up to the wedding because you have someone who has come up with a plan (that you have approved of course) and they will execute it beautifully so when you walk into your ceremony or reception, all you have to do is enjoy it! Usually they have ideas that you haven’t seen before (even on Pinterest) and can tailor your day to your wishes. A good designer or planner will talk with you and get a feel for your personality and how you envision your wedding day and can bring it to life.
So our advice to you is this: let what’s important to you stand out. Whether by your own gifted hands or by the skill of a designer, the most important thing is to make your special day reflect your own personalities. You are unique, and your wedding can be a work of art.
