Joelle and David traveled down from Washington D.C. to the Reserve at Lake Keowee for their destination wedding. David’s parents had recently retired to the Reserve community and Joelle and David decided it was the perfect spot for their wedding! One of the reasons was the perfect little stone chapel, in the heart of the Reserve town square (across from the post office and general store) that sits on the banks of Lake Keowee. The chapel seems like it was built in the countryside of Italy, with travertine stone exterior and covered vines, rustic wall sconces, and solid wood pews…it is a truly unique wedding venue in the upstate of South Carolina! And the entire community is a photographers dream, from the Orchard House where the receptions are hosted, to the tiers of the great lawn that offer areas for outdoor ceremonies or tented receptions, to the golf course, docks overlooking the lake, and many other hidden locations.
Joelle got ready at a home that faced the town square, and from the porch, she and could see the chapel where she would soon be married. It is so nice having all your wedding party, friends, and family stay in the same community and have everything all in one place for the wedding weekend. It allows you to spend the most time possible with your guests, and makes the logistics easy on them. The bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen scooted around the property on golf carts…which also added to the fun!
After a sweet and sentimental ceremony in the chapel, David and Joelle hosted a seated dinner with their friends and family at Orchard House. Then they proceeded outside to dance the night away on the outdoor lawn, strung with lights and overlooking the mountains. Not even the pop-up rain storm kept them off the dance floor!
Thanks to their wonderful vendors…
