I have to admit, we haven’t ordered sample albums since 2009, so it is about time we got them updated!! I was super excited to get this one in the mail, our matted sample wedding album. Many wedding photographers offer albums, but few offer fine art matted albums. The most popular style of album today is the flush mount coffee table style book, where the entire image is the page itself. We offer those albums, but there is something nostalgic about the matted album that I just have to offer it to our clients.
The layout process for the matted album is more complex, and the labor and assembly is more time consuming on the part of the album company. But I think it is completely worth every minute and every penny! And the album company we use produces both our Coffee Table Book and Matted Book, both with the highest quality materials. This allows for a few pages of mixing the styles, which you can see samples of below.
This album is a 10″ X 13″ Fine Art Matted Wedding Book, in white leather. I imprinted the spine with our studio, although our clients albums only list their names and wedding date (typically on the front cover). The materials are all archival, and the binding, photographs, and mats are designed to last many generations. The wedding took place at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, SC. The ceremony was held in the Poinsett Ballroom, followed by photos at Falls Park, and a reception in the Gold Ballroom also at the Westin Poinsett. Below are a few images of our most recent sample album…
The white part of the page is richly textured fine art mat board, and each image is inset and permanently mounted to the page. You can see the close up detail of the mat and inset photo.
On the above spread you can see the page to the left has no mat, the image goes from edge to edge. This is an example of the coffee table style book where the image is the page. The page on the right has three matted 3″ X 3″ images. I love the design elements in combining these two different styles.
In the image above you can see the detail again of the photo custom cut into the fine art mat board.
And lastly, another example of the left side with no mat (coffee table style) and the far right side white mat board and inset 3″ X 3″ print.
